I've had MDD for 16 months now, after taking a very simple, slow Russian River cruise (really the Baltic canal). The problem is that I was aboard ship for 14 days, 6 in port, but moving for 8 days continuously (stopping a small villages) with one day of no stops at all.
My rocking started in the middle of the cruise. I rock constantly, except, of course, when I'm driving or sleeping. Thank goodness I can fly(grandson in CA)!
Had some sinus problems at the time. To be brief: went to my GP. No help there. Skipping some details, fortunately my GP sent me to HUP (Hospital of the University of PA) to their Balance Center and I was diagnosed within 2 months. Lucky that way anyway.
I'm now on Klonopin and Ritalin (generic forms). Each affects a different part of the brain.
I had to stop working. I was a stenographic court reporter, which is a very stressful job, lots of deadlines, dealing with doctors, as witnesses, and lawyers. I dislike malls, can't read, and after writing this letter I'll be feeling ill for quite a while.
By the way, I'm probably one of the oldest of the group(63), but I had no intentions of retiring. I have lots of ideas I'd like to try re contacting others across the country, but that's for another time. Stay positive! Marilyn from PA (RJOSSCO@aol.com
